For people who don't know, You is a Netflix adaptation based on the book You by Caroline Kepnes and I. Have. Words.
My rating for this book is 5 stars and let me tell you why. (Warning: possible spoilers)
Firstly, the book is so much better than the series, the book is entirely Joe's perspective. The series is sometimes in his perspective BUT there are times you see Beck or Beck and her friends. Like when Beck found Joe's special box. You never saw that bit because it was in Joe's perspective ALL THE TIME.
Also in the series you see a lot of Candace, in the book she's probably mentioned like twice and that's it. Bye Candace. She doesn't exist here. I don't get why everyone makes a fuss of Candace in the series when Beck is the main focus. Also can we just talk about how they changed a lot of Joe and Karen's relationship? Joe never cheated on her with Beck. Her and Beck never met. Honestly to me the series is a blur and I'm more focused on the book. In future, read the book first.
Overall, the writing is amazingly done, the details and perspective it was amazing. Also I get the point of it being called You. Joe never really called Beck by her name, only when talking to her but when narrating he always referred to her as 'You" because you know she's the main focus of his life right now and he's making that VERY clear.
Anyway enough of me rambling! Hope you enjoyed my review, let me know what you think!
Thank you
Ackie xoxo
